Burger, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychology at Santa Clara University. He has published more than a hundred professional articles, chapters and books on a wide range of topics including obedience to authority, desire for control, compliance to requests, preference for solitude and attachment to childhood homes. His books include Returning Home: Reconnecting with Our Childhoods (Rowman & Littlefield), Desire for Control: Personality, Social and Clinical Perspectives (Plenum) and Personality (Cengage/Wadsworth), a college-level textbook now in its eighth edition. He has served as an associate editor for the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and has been on the editorial boards for Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Personality, Basic and Applied Social Psychology, Communication Monographs and Social Influence.
